You have found your metier. A picture speaks a thousand words, but it takes a true story teller to draw out the magic.

Very sorry to hear about your incident, but glad to see you upright - albeit with a brace - and the forthcoming book - which will no doubt have a preface with even more poignancy! Hope the full recovery goes well. I'm 2.5yrs on from my broken jaw when I suffered my 'guardsman fracture' losing my front wheel on my gravel bike on a slippery metal bridge... and have been in awe of teh NHS service I have and am still receiving from Chelsea & Westminster!

So sorry to hear this, Phil! Hope recovery is going well for you—and that finishing the book is at least a bit cathartic! -Molly

Thank you Molly. Catharsis is always good. Within touching distance now.

So sorry to hear this Phil. I ended up with compression fractures after falling off a ladder (the injury that turned me into a cyclist!). I too wore a brace but ended up having surgery about six months later - a balloon kyphoplasty. Happy to chat about it at some point if helpful. Get well soon.

Hi Andrew

That is interesting. Did the balloon kyphoplasty help? Was it NHS?

Helped massively and no - I had to pay for it myself. I actually had health insurance at the time but the insurer decided it was experimental treatment and so wouldn’t pay! That was almost ten years ago now though so probably not experimental any more…

Can I ask where you had it done?

Yes - I’ll DM you with the details
